Grey Moon Manufacturing
In New Mexico’s southeast corner, where oil fields dominate the landscape and small towns often struggle to attract new businesses, one company has quietly built something different. Grey Moon isn’t just another dispensary. It’s a vertically integrated microbusiness that has spent the last few years developing recognizable consumer brands, expanding into manufacturing, and proving that a rural operator can compete with companies many times its size.
A Microbusiness with Bigger Ambitions
Grey Moon operates out of Jal, New Mexico, holding a vertically integrated microbusiness license that allows it to cultivate, manufacture, and sell products directly to consumers. While many microbusinesses remain focused on selling flower, Grey Moon has invested heavily in manufacturing and product development. Their retail storefront carries their own products alongside other brands, giving them control over much of the customer experience.
That investment was significant enough that the company secured approval for a $250,000 New Mexico Finance Authority Cannabis Microbusiness loan. According to state documents, the funding was intended to expand cultivation infrastructure, build manufacturing capacity, purchase equipment, and provide working capital. The application also noted that Grey Moon was the only licensed manufacturing facility in Jal at the time and planned to provide wholesale manufacturing services to retailers throughout the surrounding region. Owner Kaytlinne Serna personally guaranteed the loan, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to growth.
More Than One Brand
One of Grey Moon’s biggest strengths is its willingness to build multiple product families instead of relying on a single flagship item.
Their edible lineup has grown into several recognizable brands:
Moon Bars Rice Crispy Treats
Brownies including S’mores Brownie and Big Back Brownie
Sacred Petals infused pre-rolls
Eve’s Garden botanical infused pre-rolls
Moon Walkers mini pre-rolls
Relief Root wellness products including pain balms, topical sticks, lubricants, and CBD-focused products
Rather than treating every SKU the same, each product family has its own visual identity while still sharing consistent Grey Moon branding. Looking across the packaging, the moon logo, typography, serving diagrams, and overall design language make the products immediately recognizable on a dispensary shelf.
A Surprisingly Deep Edible Line
The Moon Bar lineup may be Grey Moon’s signature product.
From the products shown in your photos, the company has developed multiple flavors including:
Plain Moon Bar
Oreo Moon Bar
Horchata Moon Bar
Fruity Moon Bar
Most are produced in both 100 mg adult-use versions and 500 mg medical versions, with each bar divided into ten clearly marked servings. Instead of releasing a single edible, Grey Moon has expanded into different flavors while keeping dosage, packaging, and branding consistent.
The company has also branched into chocolate brownies, giving consumers another option while maintaining the same serving format.
Competing in Rural New Mexico
Jal isn’t Albuquerque, Las Cruces, or Santa Fe. It’s a small community near the Texas border, but that location has proven to be an advantage.
Market data has shown Grey Moon capturing a significant share of the Jal market while benefiting from the city’s proximity to Texas, where regulated adult-use sales remain illegal. Strong average transaction values and continued sales growth have made Jal one of New Mexico’s more interesting retail markets despite its small population.
Beyond Edibles
Grey Moon’s menu extends well beyond manufactured products.
Their retail store carries flower, concentrates, beverages, pre-rolls, topicals, accessories, and branded merchandise. Current menus feature dozens of flower strains in multiple package sizes alongside concentrates, infused pre-rolls, beverages, tinctures, and wellness products.
That broad assortment helps position Grey Moon as more than simply an edible manufacturer. They’re building a complete retail brand.
