New Mexico Seed to Sale Training, Service & Support
What is NMS2S?
In 2026, New Mexico is replacing BioTrack with NMS2S, a new state seed-to-sale tracking system being implemented by the CCD and Real Time Solutions (RTS). The transition begins August 25 with BioTrack shutdowns and inventory migration, followed by a short period where retailers will operate across both systems. BioTrack is scheduled to shut down completely on September 4, 2026, after which retail sales must be reported through NMS2S, including transactions submitted by integrated POS systems.
As we develop new apps and SOPs around NMS2S, this page is dedicated to keeping operators and service providers up to date with the latest news, as well as offering training, service, and support with everything from data migration to management.

August 25 after 5:00 PM: BioTrack shuts down for non-retail licensees. Retailers can continue sales, but cannot receive inventory. The expected transfer blackout runs through September 2.
August 25–31: Testing labs cannot receive samples.
Around August 31: Producer and manufacturer inventory should appear in NMS2S; labs can begin accepting samples again. Producers/manufacturers then need to reconcile activity that occurred during migration.
September 1 at 12:01 AM: CCD begins migrating retailer inventory. Retailers continue selling through BioTrack, but their BioTrack inventory needs to be synchronized beforehand. No retailer-to-retailer transfers should be sent or accepted through BioTrack after this point.
September 2: Retailers should gain access to NMS2S inventory and can begin receiving transfers there. During the overlap, sales are still occurring in BioTrack, so operators are specifically instructed to adjust NMS2S inventory downward to account for BioTrack sales.
September 4 at 12:01 AM: Legacy BioTrack shuts off. From that point forward, retail sales must run through NMS2S, including sales submitted through POS API integrations.

The new NMS2S system is being developed and implemented by Real Time Solutions, Inc. (RTS), an Albuquerque-based technology company.
New Mexico RLD formally awarded RTS the Seed-to-Sale Traceability and Tracking Registry contract on January 28, 2026, under RFP 26-420-42000-00001.
The state's RFP makes the scope pretty substantial. RTS isn't merely hosting somebody else's existing platform. The contractor is responsible for developing the replacement system, managing the project lifecycle, implementation, requirements verification, testing and integration with other state systems.
That also lines up directly with the August 14 bulletin we've been reviewing. CCD says that CCD and RTS are jointly working toward the NMS2S launch, and specifically identifies RTS as the party restoring producer and manufacturer inventories during migration.
So the basic structure is:
New Mexico RLD / CCD → owns and administers the regulatory program
Real Time Solutions (RTS) → contracted technology developer/implementer
NMS2S → the new state traceability platform
BioTrack → outgoing legacy platform
And there's an important distinction here: this is not New Mexico switching from BioTrack to Metrc. The state competitively procured a replacement system and awarded the contract to RTS.

Reconcile Inventory Before NMS2S Migration
Operators will need to reconcile their inventories as part of the transition to NMS2S. CCD has specifically advised producers and manufacturers to reconcile migrated inventory and retailers to account for sales occurring during the BioTrack/NMS2S overlap.
While a complete backup of your BioTrack data is not required by CCD, creating one before the transition is a smart safeguard. A full archive provides a historical reference for inventory, transfers, manifests, testing records, adjustments and other operational data if discrepancies appear during or after migration.
How Do I Use NMS2S?
CCD stated that NMS2S training materials were expected to begin being released in mid-August.
So far, CDM has received access to the retail POS API and has successfully used the NMS2S sandbox to develop and test an integrated POS application. As additional API functionality, documentation and training materials become available and are tested, we'll continue adding resources, tools and walkthroughs here.
How Do I Fix Problems in NMS2S?
Whether you're working directly in NMS2S or using a third-party POS or integration, CDM can provide NMS2S troubleshooting and operational support.
Our support will cover NMS2S functions, inventory reconciliation, integration troubleshooting, training, SOP development and ongoing service and support as the new system rolls out.

Preserve a snapshot of your BioTrack records in an organized Google Sheets archive that belongs to you
While most operators can export a current inventory report, when it comes to compliance and record keeping, you want ALL your data, not just the stuff you can see.
Our API extraction tool can retrieve inventory records with zero remaining quantity.
That's not dead weight in an archive. Those records can establish historical package IDs and provide context for records that are no longer represented in a conventional current-inventory report.
Current Inventory tells you what's on hand today. Our BioTrack Archive extracts and organizes the records available through your state mandated BioTrack account—including zero-quantity inventory, rooms, adjustments, QA records, manifests, transfers, operational records, cultivation records where applicable, sales, and tax reporting.
How It Works
After purchase, provide CDM access to the BioTrack location being archived.
Recommended: Create a BioTrack user for us through your BioTrack portal and grant access to the applicable location(s).
Alternatively, provide the login credentials required to access the location.
CDM will configure your archive and provide you with your Google Sheets template within 72hrs including connections to the following data points.

Only records available to and returned by the connected BioTrack account can be archived. Some record types may not apply to every location or license type.
Updating Your Archive
Your archive can be refreshed manually whenever needed or configured to automatically refresh nightly at a defined time.
Important Disclaimers
Cost is $50 per location - A location is a license within a UBI, UBIs are usually capped at nine (9) locations, please verify how many location you have.
For example: If you have a retail location with a manufacturing license, that would be two locations.
The archive is an extraction and reporting tool. It is designed to read information returned by BioTrack and preserve that information outside of the BioTrack interface. It does NOT write to or post transactions to state databases.
CDM does not warrant that BioTrack will return every historical record associated with an account. Customers are responsible for reviewing their archive and confirming that the information they require has been successfully extracted.
Frequently Asked NMS2S Questions
When Does BioTrack Shut Down in New Mexico?
BioTrack shutdown begins for non-retail licensees after 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2026. Retailers can continue conducting sales through BioTrack until the final retail cutover. The legacy system is scheduled to shut down at 12:01 a.m. on September 4, 2026.
When Does NMS2S Go Live?
The transition occurs in stages. Producer and manufacturer inventory is expected around August 31, while migrated retail inventory is expected to become available September 2. Retail sales transition completely to NMS2S beginning September 4, 2026.
Do I Need to Reconcile My NMS2S Inventory?
Yes. CCD specifically instructs operators to reconcile inventory during the transition. Producers and manufacturers need to account for activity occurring during migration, while retailers must account for BioTrack sales occurring after their NMS2S inventory snapshot.
Should I Back Up BioTrack Before NMS2S?
CCD does not require licensees to independently create a complete backup of their BioTrack database. However, preserving your records before the legacy system disappears provides an independent reference that can be used when researching discrepancies or reviewing historical activity.
Will My Existing Products Transfer to NMS2S?
CCD has stated that products already on the market for sale to consumers will be grandfathered into the successor system.
Will My POS Work With NMS2S?
NMS2S provides an API for approved third-party POS integrations. Operators should confirm NMS2S readiness directly with their POS provider before the September 4 cutover.
Can CDM Help if I Use Another POS Provider?
Yes. CDM's NMS2S support is not limited to a specific POS platform. We can assist operators with NMS2S workflows, troubleshooting, inventory reconciliation, training and operational support regardless of the third-party integrator being used.
